CAN YOU DRINK HYALURONIC ACID?

CAN YOU DRINK HYALURONIC ACID?

You’ve been putting it on your face for years. But what happens when you drink it?Hyaluronic acid is probably already sitting somewhere in your bathroom cabinet. It’s famous for its ability to hold onto water and is naturally present in our bodies, including in the skin. Topically, it’s a skincare staple. But researchers have also been looking at what happens when hyaluronic acid is taken orally.

SO, CAN YOU ACTUALLY DRINK IT?

Yes. And more importantly: there is clinical research suggesting that orally consumed hyaluronic acid may benefit several measures of skin condition.

In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 61 people with dry skin consumed 120 mg of hyaluronic acid per day for six weeks. Skin moisture increased more in the hyaluronic acid groups than in the placebo group.

Another placebo-controlled study gave participants 120 mg per day for 12 weeks. Researchers observed improvements in measures including skin hydration, elasticity and wrinkles compared with placebo.

And a separate 12-week trial using the same daily amount found improvements in wrinkle measurements, with significant differences for one of the tested forms of hyaluronic acid appearing after eight weeks.

OKAY, BUT IS THIS ACTUALLY GOOD EVIDENCE?

Promising? Yes. Case closed? Not quite.

A 2025 meta-analysis of seven randomized controlled trials found statistically significant improvements in skin hydration, elasticity and wrinkle depth following oral hyaluronic acid supplementation. At the same time, the researchers pointed out that the available studies are still relatively small and differ in their methods, so larger trials are needed.

That distinction matters. BADDIE LAB isn't here to turn promising research into miracle claims. The evidence for oral hyaluronic acid is encouraging, particularly for skin hydration, but this is still an evolving area of research. And we're on top of it.

AND WHY 120 MG?

Every Beauty BADDIE contains 120 mg of hyaluronic acid.

That isn't a number we picked because it looked good on a can. 120 mg per day is the dose that has been researched in multiple randomized, placebo-controlled studies on skin hydration and skin condition. We'll keep doing our research and evolve our products as the science does.

THE BADDIE VERDICT

Can you drink hyaluronic acid? Yes.

Does drinking it automatically give you perfect skin? Obviously not.
But there is a growing body of clinical research suggesting that oral hyaluronic acid can improve certain measures of skin hydration and skin condition. And at BADDIE, that’s exactly the kind of evidence we like to investigate.

Your serum can stay. We’re not trying to start a fight.
